Signing a Memorandum agreement between the university and UNHCR at its African Headquarter.
The University signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Horn of Africa on Thursday, September 19, 2019. About 1000 African students were enrolled in refugee camps with co-financing with the United Nations.
Professor Musa Taha, Deputy IUA Deputy Vice Chancellor academic and cultural affairs was signed on behalf of the University and the High Commissioner of the organization was signed on behalf of the UNHCR.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the Deputy Vice Chancellor academic and cultural affairs expressed the University's keenness to contribute with the United Nations in the rehabilitation of this important segment in the society as the IUA's mission is mainly to promote African societies through educational portal, the Deputy Vice Chancellor academic and cultural affairs thanks to the High Commissioner for this partnership.
On his react, the High Commissioner for Refugees in the Horn of Africa thanked the University, explaining that this agreement is the first to focus on education.
They informed the Secretary-General of the commission about it, which reveals the effort of the roles played by the University in this area, announcing that the final signing will be in Khartoum in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and the official authorities in the relevant State.
